My new Maxi

Post by RoninPA »

Here's a couple of pics of the Maxi and box:
BNM-7, .357 Maximum, 7 1/2" barrel, never fired, very, very slight turn line from when the owner fondled it and cocked it.

Very nice maxi.

Is something like that still easy to get in the USA or have they become rare in your country due to conversions by gunsmiths?

They are still "easy" to get........if your willing to pay 1000.00 to 1500.00......or maybe more......there were a hair over 14,000 produced.....but, and I do say, but, there may have been as many as 16,314 completed guns and or serialized frames produced with about as many as 5,000 "scrapped"......I have had some conflicting info on completed and shipped numbers but I am getting very, very close to pinning it down......

Looked yesterday for some ammo for it. I found ONE place that had some, 100 round box for $139.00. Oh well, guess I might have to see if anyone has any new unprimed brass for it and load my own.

I can't easily access well-founded sources apart from my books. The "Standard Catalog of Ruger Firearms" mentions 9200 and "Ruger & his guns" says about 9500 are completed.

But what I do know is that there were a few in circulation in Europe, but many of them were in .475 .500 Linebaugh and others Exotics were rebuilt.

Unfortunately, many shooters and gunsmiths in Europe are not even aware that a piece of Ruger & Waffen history is being destroyed during these conversions.. :(

Roughly how many do you think were built together? More like 10,000? I am grateful for any further information.

Best regards
