The Three Musketeers; Sort of

Post by ElNumeroUno »

A couple of years ago, Joe Clayton arranged a hunt with one of his neighbors in South Texas for Mike Fifer. I was fortunate enough to get to tag along. We posed for this picture, all with our Ruger No.1's.
We were all supposed to bring our 1A's in 6.5 Creedmoor, but you can see who showed up with the 25/06 AH. Mike had a 30/06 American along for all to play with; this was a few weeks before the American's announcement. Just over my left shoulder is a target(white) that is 400 yards from the Bunkhouse. all were hitting the gong at that distance, every time!
Mike did get a decent 10 point South Texas buck. Joe shot a Mgt. buck and I was skunked. It was just a privilege for me just to be along.

Forgot to add, that 1A Creedmoor that Joe is holding is pretty special. About as good of fiddleback Circassian walnut as I have seen, with the Boddington style checkering, and a red Hawkeye pad. Joe is cutting down on some of his hunting rifles and Tom and I were able to get this one.

On the 30/06 American Mike had along; all of were hitting the gong after we doped out the correct hold. Dumb me, do not recall the serial# of the American, but it was just before they were announced.
