The future of the No. One . . . yet again

Post by gewehrfreund »

I was killing some time at a Barnes and Noble book store the other day and happened on the latest Gun Digest. I turned to the Ruger section trying to locate the listings for the No. One . . . . . .without success. There were none.

This seemed odd, but maybe not, and I have no idea if this has been the case with previous versions of the Gun DIgest or not, since I rarely encounter one (and don't go looking for it either 8-) ).

Some nimrod seeing this would probably conclude, and announce on all the internet forums, that the No. One is dead (just like they have every year for the past 10-15 years  ).

So, has anyone heard what this year will bring in numbers, configurations and/or calibers for our favorite single shot rifle?

The 2019 New and Featured Products Catalog contains no info on any No. 1s.

Sounds like Lipsey's is going to do a K1A in .250 Savage.

They did the K1A 250 Savage less than 10 years ago. Lipseys states 250 produced. Hope the K1 lines will live on, but in something they have not done before.

Think this is list of K1A:

K1A 7.62x39; 257 Roberts; 35 Whelen; 6.5x55 Swede; 250 Savage; 30-30

I just talked to my friend at Classic Sporting Arms. He is getting a limited number of RSI No.1 rifles in 375 Ruger caliber.

Back on this Forum after a long absence. Couple weeks ago, I had an opportunity to attend the Ruger Shareholders Annual Meeting in New London, NH. The following day, a tour thru Newport. Despite all the rumors, the No.1 is still being made. Stocks were being made, receivers and parts being cast, receivers being machined and serial numbered(that was an impressive operation) and one was assembled for me!
It was an RSI in 375 Ruger! We proofed it and I test fired it. Recoil was not that bad, and in my old age, I am pretty recoil sensitive. Longer story than I want to relate here, but there were 60 No.1 RSI barrels barrels made up. I have bought them all; 10 have been assembled and were shipped to me this last Friday. So, No.1's are being made; the assembly line is not up all the time; making a Ruger No.1 requires a lot of hand work and fitting. If you are a serious fan of the No.1, then you knew this.
I will get a picture posted soon and details if you want to buy one.
