I've been under the impression that Ruger has never made any variants of the .30 Carbine Blackhawk, but were any produced with a Brass Frame?

Not that we know of or any that I am aware of that have been verified by the factory.

The gun I looked at is on GB and was S/#50-23444, the box listed it as KBH-31, no "B", but it had the frame. I also referred to my RENE packet, but it only confused me a little more (Not used to dealing with model No's yet!). I wasn't considering a bid because it's beginning bid was above my pay grade, but I was curious.

According to the serial number that is an Old Model .30 carbine, the model should be BKH-31.

When in doubt as to whether a brass grip frame may be original to a Ruger Old Model or not, always be sure to give the factory a call to see if it shipped as a brass frame model. In this case, if the gun lettered, it would letter as model BKH-31B.
As flattop44 noted, none are believed to have been shipped with a brass grip frame. But... there is a factory photograph of serial number 50-18400 with a brass grip frame on it. To me it would be highly improbable that somebody at the factory took the brass frame off of the gun before it was shipped, but who knows?
The same was once said about another factory photograph showing a rare BKH-41B serial number 40-18080 however that gun has now been lettered by the factory as BKH41B.
The $10 letter from the factory could be highly profitable!

The only variation in the 30 carb. that I am aware of is in the serial number, "Non-Prefix" and "Prefix", and the grip panels. The early ones had "Black Eagle" medallions and the later models had "Silver Eagle' medallions.
