2 Millionth Blackhawk

Post by d findley »

Ruger donated the 2,000,000th Blackhawk to the NRA. It was auctioned at a fund raiser in St. Louis, MO in 2007. Anyone know who bought it?

No sir I can't seem to find out who the buyer was. I found the following via Ruger News regarding the revolver.

"Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), has donated its Two Millionth Ruger "Blackhawk®" single-action revolver, which has been beautifully engraved by the Ruger Studio, to the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) to be a part of their auction to help raise funds for their legislative, legal, and political efforts. The event will occur on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Grant's Farm, the Busch family estate in St. Louis, Missouri.

The blued .45 Colt caliber Ruger New Model Blackhawk bears serial number 48-26078 and features a 5-1/2" barrel. This one-of-a-kind revolver has been heavily inlaid with three colors of high karat gold in a classical floral vine motif.

Every component of this hand-engraved masterpiece has received special attention, including a gold insert in the front sight blade and a 24-karat gold Ruger "Eagle" in the hand-carved genuine ivory grip panels. A hawk in blued steel rests at the top of the grip frame and is surrounded by gold inlay, and the Ruger Eagle logo was painstakingly inlaid in rose gold on the recoil shield. The top of the barrel features the words "TWO MILLIONTH" inlaid in yellow gold and skillfully outlined in rose gold, while the top strap is inlaid with an extremely ornate "SR" interlaced monogram. All gold inlay is accented by engraved shadow cuts in the blued background for a truly rich look.

Since their introduction in 1955, Ruger Blackhawk and the subsequent Ruger New Model Blackhawk revolvers have introduced generations of firearms enthusiasts to single-action revolvers. The extensive variety of configurations, including calibers, barrel lengths and finishes, continue to appeal to historical buffs, handgun hunters and cowboy action competitors, and today's New Model Blackhawks are the most mechanically advanced single-action revolvers on the market.*

"The Two Millionth Ruger Blackhawk represents a remarkable milestone for Sturm, Ruger," said Company President Stephen L. Sanetti. "It has been suitably adorned to attest to its significance as a piece of Company history, and we are proud to donate it to the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action."

Does anyone have a picture of it that they will share with us?

These two were pulled from RugerForum. Paul posted these images among others along with his brief biography. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewto ... 6&t=118219
