I bought my first Mark 1, T678 , Serial No. D200001 used as a shooter in 1970 while living in Illinois. Three years ago, after reading an article on the history of the Mark I , I was curious about when my Mark I was made. During my research about my Mark I (made in 1962), I learned from Chad Hiddleson, editor of the RENE, that this D-serial number is the lowest known to exist for this gun.
Since then, I now live in Southeastern Virginia, and I own eight Ruger .22 pistols, including a customized S-serial number Mark I, T-512W made in 1971, a Mark I, T678 with tapered ears made in 1953, and a 22/45 Model 0197 "Great Eight" made in 2002.

Some people sit on $.05 of knowledge like it is the treasure of Egypt. I will teach anyone $.10 worth just to prove a point...
