Mini 584- brass damage

Post by amishjeff »

Was shooting my Mini today and found 9 out of the 30 ejected brass damaged in the sidewall. I have never come across something like this before and was wondering if others had some insight into the issue. I was shooting ammo head-stamped "L C .223 rem". Lake city cartridge but I cannot remember the reseller brand.

If I remember correctly from back then it is caused by the ejector and also a heavy spring, too tight a grip by the extractor, the combination may need to be adjusted, fitted properly, the old Chief ( AJ) splained that to me, many years ago when I was shooting the Mini in club matches, early 1980s,,,been a while...I know wwe used to see this many times at Camp Perry also back in the 70s but the guys really did not "care"??? how the cases ended up looking just that they got out of the gun without jamming, yessir ammo was really abundant back then, most we had access to ,came from the guvment.... ;)
