I’ve posted a picture of this gun before but found something interesting today. I was moving some boxes around and found the shipping box for my 1V .280 Remington.
In 1986 my father was setting up at the Market Hall show in Dallas. I was a junior in HS and helping him at gun shows was one of my favorite things. Just prior to setting guns out we made a sweep around the place. During our walk we spotted two smaller odd sized Ruger boxes on a table. We went straight to them and found they were both .280 Remington 1V barreled actions. I don’t remember the story of how he came about them but the guy wanted $250 each for them. They were not consecutive but were both marked .280 Remington or 7mm Remington Express. I bought one and Dad bought the other.
Sometime after I sold mine to one of his friends on the condition we would send the other to Ruger to be stocked.
Opening that shipping box today, under the foam, I found the owners manual and the work order/receipt for the stock from April of 1987.
I love that labor was $10 and shipping was $5.
Dad is in a nursing home now and this is one of my treasures.

That is some great looking wood!

I would say they did us right for 200 bucks! Seriously though it is the best wood I have on a No.1.
