My Red Eagle just arrived….

Post by fishhuntnut »

She is better than the pics on the site I bought it on showed…wow, probable a 98-99% gun in my opinion… and correct mag. Has the slotted bolt, which makes sense as per RENE, last Type 1 ended at sn 3281 and mine is 3282…. She needs a good cleaning….

Very impressive catch! I have 3358, a Type II, 76 units after yours. Mine shipped in Feb. 1950.
My copy of RENE shows the Type II starting at 3253. The Encyclopedia of Ruger has the Type II starting at 3261.

They are all good if you can own them for a bit. Got a lead on 2 other Red Eagles that might have to become sisters by adoption…. One of which is a blued trigger variation with box..

I was going through my box of grips and didn’t even know I had two sets of original Red eagle grips, both were later versions without the eschuteons..

Hmmm... I'll have to see who had 3281 back in the day.
