Ruger carbine

Post by Charlie1022 »

Who remembers the Ruger carbine from years ago? I remember seeing them at the Grand American Trap Shoot and like what I saw but never got around to getting one at the time and then they were discontinued. Does anyone remember why they were dropped. From what I remember they had an action much like an M1. They came in both 9mm and 40 cal as I recall.

Yep, bought and sold a few when they were introduced. Early ones were marked "Police Carbine". Rugged built, protected sights, made for work. I remember the 9mm mags exchanged with Ruger 9mm pistols.

Hi All and Merry Christmas...

Thoughts on the 44 Carbine? How would you compare to the 96/44?

Thanks,

I have one of each with the ghost ring sights. The PC9 is fun to shoot if you can stand the "military" trigger. Not quite as much fun as my M1 carbine but cheaper ammo.

I haven't shot the PC4 and probably never will. Not a .40 fan. Several years ago a LGS got 175-200 of them as LE trade ins so the price was right and I bought one.

I believe they suffered from low demand at the time. Now they're a little pricey if you want to buy one.

Hello gentlemen,

Curious to get your feedback on a fair price for a nice sample of a PC9 and PC4. Now that I have the Carbine 44, thought I would add these to my wish list.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Best,

Like anything else, if it doesn't sell, it's discontinued. I owned a PC9, and while it was fun to shoot, it was pretty dang heavy for a 9mm carbine. And to take it apart and put it back together wasn't for the faint of heart either. Being a blowback action, the bolt musta wighed 3 or 4 pounds, it was a big hunk of steel as I recall. I finally figured out that it was about the same size as my M4, probably weighed a little more, and there was absolutely nothing it could do that my M4 couldn't do better. As for price, they usually go in the $700 on up neighborhood now. Like anything else Ruger doesn't make anymore, the price goes up and up!
