A hollow bolt is heading south!

I am retiring this week and had my retirement party last week where my co-workers presented me with a cash gift. It is being turned into an unmolested 77R hollow bolt in 7mm Rem. When it arrives I will post some pictures. I have been told these early heavier Douglas barrelled rifles are really good shooters. Cotton Bayou

Good for you on your retirement! Sounds like you are starting it out in style with a nice rifle. Are you going to find that 1967 Ford Fairlane 427 to carry it to the range? Remember when the bell goes off now you don't have to head to the fire...

No, that Fairlane is as much out of my price range now as it was then, probably more so! But I am getting a 427. The serial number of the hollow bolt heading my way is 70-40427!

With the number of grandchildren we have, my last automotive purchase was a twelve passenger van.

Certainly not the most pristine example of early Model 77s I have, it fit nicely with my cash gift. I wanted to get something durable that I would enjoy for a lifetime. It has enough use on it that I can hunt with it guilt free but is nice enough it could fill the 77R hollow bolt slot in a display.

Way to go, those hollow bolts are indeed few and far between.

Well, I have been retired for less than two weeks and I haven't worked this hard in a long time. I want to get pictures up but "catching up on things" is getting in the way. Anyway, got the rifle a few days ago and it is nicer than I thought. The blued steel is almost perfect, a little finish gone from the edge of the trigger guard, floorplate is Ok. The rings are not correct. The stock shows a little use but overall this rifle could hang on most anyone's wall. Although a rather common configuration for an uncommon rifle, I am pleased with my first hollow bolt in hand, especially for the modest price. I do have a couple of RS hollow bolts that will not be put in the hands of a common carrier that I will pick up later.
