Are the plates carbon steel? I'm sure when they were made, they really weren't thinking about preserving them. Wonder if they could be plated? Thanks for posting.

I have a No.1 rifle with "Old Man" and the Seal on it. Per Triggs letter, it was only one done. Don't know about that, but I will try to get some pics up of it.
