Thought that I would show an update to on my non prefix guns, now with period correct vertical split on 2 and a large hole horizontal split on the other. All have period correct 5 and 6 digit non prefix Leupold glass on them also.

Really nice trio. The one with the feathered stock is a real eye catcher.

Nice, and I'm glad to see you realize that these rifles should be paired with period-correct quality scopes.

Those old Leupolds are real classics on these early Rugers! Also have seen some Lyman Americans and Redfields. I think when one finds one of these early rifles with the original glass put on by the first owner, it should be left as is. I think I have a 222 AB with a 7.5 Leupold. That is the way he set it up.

Got a 2x7 VX2 of same vintage I see in pics, any interest? Not perfect, but nice, was going to put on a Win 70, but maybe better on a early #1. PM if any interest, can text pics tomorrow.

Learning alot from this forum. I but bought my first 3-digit gun (597). I really like the idea of period correct glass for it. It has the correct vertical mounts. Scope recommendations ??? Thank you!

all the scopes on my non prefixes are the leupold arch logo as shown. They are pre 1974 and most likely late 60's, they have no letter prefix.

The older Leupolds are nice. If you like AO scopes, the older Weaver K8/K10 are hard to beat; they are era-correct, they look right and they have lots of eye relief.

Thought that I would give an update on this subject. My non prefix kick has become a little bit more like an obsession for the vintage no 1s. Thanks to Rowdy, I just acquired my 13th non prefix...here's the list so far...
AB 243
AB 308
AH 222
AH 7mm
BB 22-250
BB 243
BH 243
BH 30-06
BBS 243
BBS 30-06
BBB 22-250
V 22-250
V 25-06
The ABs are both 3 digit guns and the 243 has the original box.
I've also now dabbled into the early 130 prefix guns as well as a few liberty's...
next on my wish list is another BBB in 222 or 243 or 6mm in case any of you see one :)
