No 1 50th high grade

Browsing the gun broker sight, I came across one of the new engraved 50th anniversary models in high grade. I think Ruger missed the boat with this one. Looking back at like the Lyman editions there was a distinct difference grade 1 vs grade 2. Grade 1s have hand engraving and exceptional wood. in the 50th case the wood is marginally better and they just added a inlaid number to the bottom of the receiver. For me I purchased one of the standard grades, but don't think that high grades are worth the extra money. Attaching some pictures.

What is/was price? the 50th edition is high enough as issued. Who did the extra work on the one you show?

The standard 50th's are selling on GB for between 1300 and 1500 there are many out there higher priced but are not moving. Pats has been releasing 1 every week or so with penny start and no reserve. They have one on GB again now. Each auction they get a little less, last one I think sold for under 1300. The high grade that I shared pictures didn't sell and they were asking 2199. I assume the extra work was just done by whoever did the standard 50th's work.

What would have been nice on the No 1 anniversary high grade is features that were inherent to the non prefix models.... like the unique checkering pattern. This would have set it apart from the standard grade and given it a true feeling of 1967! Oh heck could even added vertically split rings in the red velvet bag.

The listing was awhile ago and it was not relisted. I don't think that there were any other embellishments other than those in the pictures above. I was comparing it to the standard grade 50th that I own...

You can now find these NIB for under $1500, well below the last blue book estimates. I am very tempted. Could they move lower?

Are you speaking of the regular production model or the high grade 1 of 50?
There was also an employee edition, made in 6.5 Creedmoor instead of .308.

Still, it had a $2000 MSRP.
