GunShow trade - 357 FT - Engraved/Nickel/Stags

Post by b1buddy »

Traded for this last Sunday at the Tyler Show. What is so surprising to me is that I have not really cared much for engraved guns before. But, for some reason, this one just fell in love with me - or, is it I fell for it!!! No matter, I like it.

First attempt to upload pictures here, so will see how it goes.

As you can see, the FT has a shortened barrel, Stag grips (Ajax, and they are far too thick for me), Engraved by Phil Hudson. You can see PH in one picture. It is at the very far bottom and right side of the loading gate. Based on s/n look up, it is 1960 vintage. Anyway, hopefully someone else will enjoy seeing it also.

I plan to do that. But right this minute none of the whole gun pictures are sharp enough. Will plan to take more tomorrow.

Looking forward to a pic of the whole thing too! I bet with that short barrel it feels right handy!

Got to get better pictures of it, but here is the best one with my phone right after I traded for it. You can see in this photo that I also traded for a Super BKH (also 1960 per s/n).

That last pic of the left side even more impressive, love the bark on those stags. Would you mind sharing approximate trade value you got this for? If I ever find something like this, would like to have a base line value to compare with. I might have to get to the Tyler show, my cousin has made some great trades at that show himself.

The fellow, Bill, that I traded with had a sticker price of $3900 on it. Plus, the OM SBH w/stags (1960 also) he had $1175 on it. I traded him three S&W's plus a Remington 700 BDL in 7-08 for both of those. We went sticker price to sticker price on the trade.

I gave him a S&W 17-4 with some engraving on it with my value of $2250 on it. Also, gave a 28 no-dash and my price was $795. And, a pre-17 that had two holes drilled under the barrel for a barrel lug with a price tag of $795. And finally, the 700BDL varmint in 7-08 with a sticker of $1250.

So, that was the sticker for sticker trade. My actual price since I have had a few of these for awhile was $2325 invested over the years. So, other than the time value of money, well, you know!!!!

It took me some time to do that trade because I have never put that much into any single gun before!!!

Come see us some time. I have a table at every show. This last show was really good for my trading to increase my Ruger collection and decrease my non-Ruger items!!
