Sturm, Ruger & Co. was formed 70 years ago this month. The Standard Auto turns 70 this year.

Very nice indeed. The RST is the one that started to topple Colt and High Standard. Both of those are gone and Ruger is on the Mark IV but still going strong... That says something

Good memories for me as well. I agree with Bill, I had forgotten this important anniversary for the first firearm made by Ruger.
I still have my RST that was packed with grease when I found her. It took some careful work, but she is cleaned up and joins the rest of my serial number 40 Rugers from the early days. Did I mention, RST # 0040 rests in the correct hinged cardboard box, inside a correct Salt Cod box! Factory letter says she was inspected on October 6 and shipped October 18,1949 via Railway Express. Numbers #0047 & #0096 live here in my safe & have been displayed a few times hard to believe they are 70 now.

I know Chuck also has a one of a kind "Salt Cod Pistol" that he got at the OGCA show last year. It is new in the box. Not something you see every day.
