I have looked around and cannot find any information on the year or serial number range for production of the first M77 RSI. Is there any documentation out there on RSI serial numbers?
Thanks for your help.

The earliest known is 75-77579, a .243.
The RSI was introduced in 1982, although that serial number may show a manufacture date of 1981.
Info from the "Reference of Ruger Firearms".

Thanks, chet15.
I have heard of that book and would love to get one. Are there multiple volumns? Are they available for purchase? I need this to help me Ruger up!

M77 RSI history would be interesting. Seems they might coincide with M77 Ultralight history, as (I've read) both share the same barrel contouring?
Is the first model 44 rifle with a mannlicher stock recorded as the first PRODUCTION Ruger to offer a " RSI/mannlicher" stock? Mine is certainly early (pre-prefix).
Huh.

No doubt, Mohavesam.
The 10/22s International followed in 1966 and the No. 1 RSI came along in 1969, I believe, which is now on my list.

The 10/22X and 44X International stock models were both introduced in early 1966.
The M77RSI and 1RSI were both introduced in 1982, although some of each were probably shipped in late 1981.
Yes, the M77RL Ultralight came out at the same time as the M77RSI.

Thank you, chet15, for clarifying those dates. I don't know where I got that 1969 date - been reading so much on the net it all runs together.
I sent a pm with my email address for your help in finding a "Reference" book. Thanks in advance.
Until I have one I will ask one more question. Do you know the earliest SN for a 10/22x International? I know my SN 47242 carbine is a fairly early one.

No. In fact, without looking, I'm not sure the ST was even still around when the RSI came out.
