The pistol pictured here is correct but the magazines and box are not for this gun. I just checked the gunbroker web-site. There is 3 listed there right now with correct boxes.

Instead of MK1, try "Standard Auto". The MK1 was the target version.

is the pistol stamped "Mark I" on the left side? s/b "Standard".
'81: the 5k stainless guns were the last year for Standard and Mk I guns.

Mohavesam, they are RST4-S Standard pistols, no MKI markings. As stated they were the last of the Standards made. No polished ones Steve, there is a block of 26 that where special edition "California Freedom but all had the same finish. I believe Don Findley to be the expert here, maybe he will offer a bit of information.

Bennett is correct. They were the last of the Standard Autos serial numbers from 17-00000 thru 17-05000 with 15 going to the California Freedom Fund. The stainless auto project started in 1979 and was to be part of the 30th year celebration. Ruger had never made a .22 pistol in stainless steel and had problems. The project was put aside for more important things, then came time for the new Mark II. The stainless autos became a priority. They were not a big success. Ruger ended up with a lot of them that did not sell. They may still have some??
