I am assisting a widow in selling her late husbands 3 screw Blackhawk. The piece is in fantastic condition, except for one thing. He etched his name and address on the base of the grip,(see pic). Am I better off selling as is, or grinding off and re- bluing that area. Comments appreciated.

The grip frame is aluminum alloy so it cannot be reblued. The gun is not rare and appears to show some use. If it were me, I would leave it as is and sell it as a good shooter. JMHO

I agree with Bill; sell it as is. If the new owner wants to remove the name and address of the former owner, that is their decision. The bottom of the grip frame would have to be refinished with aluminum black. Retouching the etching with aluminum black might make it a little less noticeable.

for as "light" as that is etched in the bottom, I would simply ( and carefully) draw file/polish it out, touch it up with whatever we had handy, alumahyde, krylon, whatever...most folks would not "see" it, the bottoms usually take a beating anyway......
names ,addresses and social security numbers have NO business being on a firearm, they can come back to haunt you,,,,, wish I had a nickel for everyone we removed for folks over the years,,,,,yours would be a piece of cake....
