Picked it up at a local auction a month or so ago. Got it for $400, which I thought was a great deal. It is 1979 vintage according to the serial number and is in great condition with 3 mags. Shoots great. What kind of value would this have? Thanks for any insight.

Great looking MkI T678...looks new or possibly a Ruger Hot Blued refinish (they do wonderful refirb work). In it's condition, you did well!

I picked up a 76' T678 last year...they Do shoot and handle Great!!

Welcome to ROCS, lots of very knowledgeable Ruger owners reside here and betwixt all of us, there aren't many questions that can't be answered. You'll enjoy your time here.

That said, it's really tough to answer a question about value when someone tells how much they already paid for something. If the answers are more than what was paid, then the buyer is happy. If less, then the buyer might have regrets. If you are happy with what you paid, that is what matters. I would say, in these times of uncertainty, you "dun good"

To really give a good value answer, most of us here would want more pictures with good details shown. The s/n in 98-765xx format would help as would ANY other details you can give. Even a detail that you might consider inconsequential may be just want is needed to help in the valuation. Did it come with a box (original would be best), if it came with a box, what does the box end say? Did it come with all the original papers or ANYTHING else, nothing is too small.

From what I see, there are 2 mags with silver floor plates and one blued. Not sure if the grips are factory or not (but there are Ruger .22 collectors that know a lot more about them than I do that may help out). If the finish is original, then that is one fine specimen.

Thank you for the replies. Sorry it took so long to acknowledge and reply to these comments. Just saw them today. I will get some better pics shortly. I can answer a couple of the questions right now. No box or paperwork. Yes, 2 silver based mags and 1 blued. I was told by someone else that the blued is the original mag and the silver ones are later issued mags from Mark II. Previous poster said grips were put on after purchase. I cannot refute that information. And as far as value, I am happy with the purchase whether I paid too much or got a deal.

The solid silver base magazines are the ones that would have been with the pistol originally. Those magazines have a heavy folded coil spring that you can see through the slots in the sides of the sheet metal. The blued base magazine should have a clear view through the slots because the spring is a round coil at the front of magazine. The walnut thumbrest grips would have been put on after because the "W" models of all the Ruger Stnadard and Mark 1 pistols were dropped from the catalog in 1974 according to the information in Chad Hiddleson's "Encyclopedia of Ruger Semi Automatic Rimfire Pistols 1949-1992"... In any case you have a beauty there that you will really enjoy.
