NR9 Barrel swap help/question

Team ROCS,
I have been asked a question I do not know the answer to, so I need your expertise.
Someone I know has an NR9 convertible model 0624 made in 2013 and wants to install a 5 1/2 inch barrel
from an earlier single six, BUT the threads do not match.
The NR9 barrel has 5/8 x 24 threads, the other is 9/16 x 20.
So, the question is, do all the convertibles have larger barrel threads, or is this difference because the
5 1/2 inch is from an earlier gun?
