Ruger used vendors for their medallions.
Not necessarily non-compliant by the specs... but a "good enough" final product that had no impact on functionality and met WBR's price standards.

Ah yes, again the concept of getting it from the "lowest" bidders????

I seem to recall those old plastic medallions were made by some model toy company....

Another variation of the medallion is the smaller, gold colored ones used on the Red Label shotguns.
