Only the second one I have ever seen offered for sale. Someone has a big smile today.
Worth every penny in my book if you own an unboxed RSSE!

Origional vs reproduction, story of the originals nicely documented in the book Compliments of Col. Ruger. There is probably someone here that may have a spare copy of the book, outrageous price what I saw on Amazon. Dougan's combined vol on single actions book has a good account as well.

This matches up with what I had to pay for one that sat on Ed Nolan's desk at the factory. Mint case, no frayed edges or corners and pristine green case liner! Try finding one when you need it? Brass Frame/Lee

It appeared to these eyes that this was not a mint box......that said, it had a faded interior, and stains where the cylinder laid. There was also a cut across the boxe's top as a result of a blade being used to open the outer container, early in the life of the packaging. Granted, there were originally only about 275 boxes and only 258 firearms. We know of approximately 135+/- RSSE and the rest are "somewhere".This box is one of the "somewhere" population, and prior to closing, the seller ignored my questions about any further information on the boxe's and/or the gun's history. Is $2005 a decent or "fair" price? Only if you have an RSSE with no box. That is also called by my associate, Dan Tanko, the "pucker factor". Beauty and desire exist in the eyes of the beholder..........

Had a very pleasant discussion with brother Don Findley recently. He noted that he has some copies of the Dougan text "Compliments of Col. Ruger", The superb treatise on Ruger Engraved firearms. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS BOOK, CONTACT DON FINDLEY. You will not be disappointed!
