Is it known when Ruger changed from black to red followers in their standard 10/22 magazines shipped with rifles? My 1994 K10/22RBI has one.

I have 3 1990 and a 1994 NIB 10/22s that have the black follower. My 2004 Anniversary model came with a black magazine with a black follower (10 SHOT sm print). The clear anniversary magazine (gray package) that was included with it has a red follower. The first 10/22 I have with black magazine with a red follower is in 2007. So somewhere between 2005-and 2007 I assume that change occurred.
Im guessing they kept the red followers for the non-anniversary clear mags and then just continued with that for all 10/22 mags.

Thanks, acticruger. No doubt it was replaced. It has smaller lettering and the logo only has an R, not SR.
I have a few that are marked H2 and my 1966 has a slotted main bolt. Is there a write-up of the different factory styles with time frames?

Not that I know of. I believe the latest my books cover is up to 1994 or so. And although I have a couple, I kind of lose interest in 10/22s from 2008 and up. At least for now anyways.

I'm with you about newer 10/22s so up to 1994 is fine with me. I just got a look at a very nice 1968 10/22xc I bought on GB. It has a slotted-bolt mag in it and an extra mag, in a white box, that is marked H1.
It's also wearing a vintage Browning 3/4 inch scope in excellent condition.
I like the Internationals.
