Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but not new to Rugers. I mainly have SA Ruger revolvers . I even have a 357 Max in each length.
I found this site while researching what I believe to be a NYPD Speed Six 3" GS-83 38 spl I'm buying. Looking forward to learning more about the SS.

Glad to have you with us, the GS-83 NYPD is a very scarce animal, only a handful known of, a true DAO revolver. Please share pics and more about it when you get it in. Also like to see and hear more about your other Rugers.

Welcome to the nicest bunch of Ruger people you will ever meet. We have fun and the knowledge here is amazing.
Some people sit on $.05 of knowledge like it is the treasure of Egypt. I will teach anyone $.10 worth just to prove a point...

Welcome to ROCS from Arizona !

Welcome for central PA and a Security Six series DA collector. Open the cylinder and look at the crane. If there is a 5 pointed star stamped on the crane, that is the NYCPD armorers acceptance mark saying it had been approved for issue to a patrol officer. If it doesn't have the make that DOES NOT mean it is not a NYCPD contract gun, it could be a over run gun (Ruger typically does this with a lot of big contracts - for just in case).
Always glad to have new folks join the best Ruger forum around.
