I have a few Ruger AR's......One is Factory, the piston driven......have it for my coyote issue...complete with ATN night vision scope.....Two other are receivers I built up......all in 5.56......decided for a little change and want to go to a different caliber......I have not researched this any but what other calibers use the same 5.56 mag? I know it narrows done my decision.....just trying to keep it simple. Thanks, Jack

.300 Blackout will use the same mag. I am sure there are others, but that is the one I have experience with. Mine is not suppressed so I shoot 125 grains bullets. First 5 shots I shot out of that (after sighting in) was a 3/4 inch group at 100 yards, with my handloads. Had never handloaded that round before, and had never shot it before. I was hooked from then on! And not only does it use the same mags, you can make the cases from .223 brass.

Here are a few that should work fine in a standard AR magazine:
.204 ruger
.20 tactical
.300 blackout
.300 whisper
7.62x40
450 bushmaster (but I have heard of some problems with certain non-metal magazines.)
458 socom
50 beowulf

Pretty much any wildcat based on the .223/5.56 round should be good to go, such as the .17 Remington, .17-.223, .25-.223, the 6.8 x 39 (.277 Wolverine)

You just have to build the upper.
