What I like about this Forum

Just viewing Carl's photos caused me to realize what I really appreciate about this Forum. For the most part, we have a cadre of long time Ruger aficionados with a lot of experience and experiences. It is not that we should not welcome newcomers, and inevitably we will have a growing group of "newbies". What I have seen is the sharing of good info, especially the photos.
I just shook my ahead the other day on a RugerForum question-"What is a No.1 45/70 worth?" I try to leave these questions alone, although I am tempted to write "From $500 to $5000; without more information, I can not get closer than that!".
My next favorite is "I just picked up a Ruger XYZ; what's it worth?" I try to just go on!

Great info, great bunch of guys on here. It was worth me joining just to see the picture of .22 ammo with Ruger on it! Never seen or heard of it before.

If I was a "newbie" looking to join the R.O.C.S. or think about displaying at one of the various shows, your comments just might make me rethink my decision. IMHO

I feel we as forum members need to :
A.Be Nice to the other members when the Questions or Comments is made that may have been asked a thousand & two times, Because sometime is the past we most likely asked about the same question.
B. Most of the time we can answer ( their Questions) off the top of our head that sometimes is written in an old book that most of us (old timers) read years ago.
C. I have been on other forums were the members ridicule the new guys Questions and he does not come back again, That's not right!

I say we welcome anyone & everyone that is interested in our site, Rugers, guns and/or ROCS. We all can learn and benefit from each other.

If your opinion differs from mine, I'd like to hear it. Say what you feel. I'd like to think I can respectfully disagree. It is OK to disagree without a full blown-out fight, leading to hard feelings. Seems we all share a common interest here.

Terry,
The 2 points I was trying to make is;
1) Generally, there is a very knowledgeable group posting here now.
2) How do we bring in new and younger individuals who want to learn and grow in their knowledge of all things Ruger?
I do not feel that we can be like the RugerForum.com (and the .net version) where there are any number of one time posters looking for a quick and easy answer, never to return.
I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions about how we grow our Organization and attract individuals who share our passion?
Lee

We are all here to learn teach and enjoy that's all that's important. At 64 years of age I still learn something new each and every day.

Lee,
First off my post was not an attempt to "ambush you" on your comments in your post, nor was it meant to cause trouble or create any friction of any kind. I do how ever stand by what I typed with the exception of the word 'sad' that was not needed and I have edited it out!!

I openly apologize to you or any other forum member whom my post offended as that was not it's intent. That's all I can offer.
I can assure you it won't happen again. Wish you and the rest of the R.O.C.S nothing but the best.
Terry

I, as a relative 'newbie' to collecting, understand what Terry is saying. This is an "owners AND collectors society". A new owner might actually need the answer to "What does a ... go for?" After reading the digests, which have excellent information and articles, I find that everything seems to be pointed to the guy with VERY deep pockets and those able to hunt everywhere in the world. I cannot afford to collect only serial number 'whatever' or have one of every known variation of a certain gun. Everything seems to be pointed towards those persons. I don't have said 'deep pockets' and have to watch my pennies as to what I buy. My passion is the Bearcat, a lowly .22lr caliber. Many new collectors are also in my position. I do have fun looking for and collecting my Bearcats and am always on the lookout for that next 'right' one.
