Mkii receiver predrilled

Post by Rickkling »

Good evening fellow ruger addicts!
I recently added another mkii mk512 to the accumulation.
A friend asked if it was predrilled for a scope base. It isn’t, but 4other mkii’s
I have are.
I scanned over the three great books of ruger, but didn’t see anything about a running change.
At what point did they start coming with the receiver drilled and tapped?

Ruger did a special distributor model for somebody called an MK512CA. There were 302 of these made, known from 225-46986 to 225-57468. This seems to be the first non competition model that had the drilled and tapped receiver. Right after this, Ruger must have decided to make all their Mark II's drilled and tapped, so yes it was a running line change. Between 225-82103 and 225-82223 Ruger started D&T'ing all of the adj. sight guns. The toughest to find in D&T are the 10" guns with only a few hundred of each.

All the competition targets are drilled and tapped.
The 5-1/2" being a slabside, it is also a competition target.

Chad,….you know the saying you don’t know what you don’t know?
The saying in this group should be “you don’t know what chad, don, John, etc… know!
As usual, thanks for all the answers to my silly questions!
