Canadian MP marked pistol

Some of you may already be aware of this, but there is a MKI on gunbroker being advertised as a Canadian MP ruger. In Chads book, it doesn’t show that serial number, but it also states that it isn’t complete. The number falls within those serial numbers,
But it also looks like th MP stamping could easily be faked. Given the fact that t,hose are supposed to be destroyed, what are the chances it’s real?
I emailed the seller to see if he had any documentation, but no response yet.
Any thoughts from the gurus?

I would lean towards it being faked. There are enough early T678's that could be altered and stamped with corresponding serial numbers and markings. It's not like the RCMP Police Service Six that has a distinctive barrel length that would be hard to counterfeit.

I believe this is the pistol I bought from Dave Hiddleson about 35 years ago. He got it from a retired Mountie.

Since Don has spoken I will go with his answer. Perhaps I was a little cynical. I hope it is genuine and finds a good home with someone who will appreciate it.

I appreciate both of your replies
If I can get confirmation on the SN, my bank
account may take a hit.
I know that anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but considering it’s rarity, IF it’s real, is 1850 accurate?

I contacted Ruger and it was shipped to a hardware store in Pennsylvania. No indication of being sent to a Canadian agency.

Well, the plot thickens.
Are there any RCMP pistols known in private collections?

The plot just got thicker. Some of the information I
do know. So it was shipped from the factory in October 1960 to Edward K. Tryon company in Pennsylvania. Beginning in 1811 to 1965 the E.K. Tryon company was known as the largest distributor for imported and exported firearms in the world. It's a very interesting read if you Google them. I do know a bit of history behind this particular gun. From what I'm told it came into the country many moons ago from a retired RCMP. He took it to the Tulsa arms show and was acquired. I believe that there was some sort of trading involved. I'm not really into name dropping so I will leave it at that. From there it went to another individual "good friend " . Years later it was sold to a military collector again I believe at the Tulsa arms show. About a decade or more later I seen it for auction on GB. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay but the chance or opportunity to even aquire a RCMP weapon would be about 0.0001% chance being said that after service they were to be destroyed. Do I think its a fake "NO" to get any other documentation that is going to probably be near impossible. But in all it looks correct fro. What pictures I've seen. So, It is what it is and I am great full being able to aquire it for my collection.

Did you buy it? It’s no longer on GB.
Chad hiddleson was nice enough to fill me in on some of its
History, so the “is it real” was no longer in question.

Yes I did. Chad contacted me this afternoon about it. I had a couple others email me about it as well. I was really on the fence about it and up most of the night researching what I could find. I almost pulled the trigger on it about 3am that morning but waited till earlier that afternoon. I was hoping to get a bit more information from the seller but he didn't reply. Personally I do believe it's correct and possibly the only one in a private collection. Munnel has a picture of one in a book in the 300xxx range that a photo from the RCMP provided. They both look alike. So. "Is it real" is the question.
