OM Single Six rear sight

Post by Ruger8r »

I've noticed that the early Single Six rear sights seem out-sized and are blocky and sharp-edged. The change to a sight with rounded ends and softer edges seems to have happened with the grip frame change to XR3RED. Am I correct in that observation?
Did Ruger make those or were they vendor supplied?
I did this to my Lightweight shooter - much kinder to leather holsters:

Hadn't noticed that before. I would think Ruger would have cut these themselves from extruded stock, but not sure on that.

Actually, it looks like it may just be random dates and models around 1957???
