Interesting Original Ruger Invoice

Post by KWend54 »

In my quest for non prefix Model 77’s I ended up with an interesting original factory invoice for a Ruger M77R Serial number 634 sent to Charles Skelton Federal Agent, US Customs, Loredo TX dated 10/29/68
Very Cool. Wonder where this M77 243 may be??????

Since it says “on loan” under price, I wonder if there is a Skeeter Skelton article about that rifle published somewhere?

That is interesting.
At some point the #22 subscription number was transferred to Skeeter. The #22 is pictured on a cover of a Shooting Times from 1969 and has vertical rings... but I think the 22's might have actually been going to the editor of shooting times at the time, whose last name was Robert Steindler or something like that.
Maybe you'll find a skeeter article that matches your gun to his pics?

Thanks Chet
Yes I have been looking. I found an article by him from the early 70’s where he referenced having 2 243’s one Ruger M77 and one Winchester 70. He doesn't give any detail but it makes me wonder if the gun he mentioned having is this invoiced #634. Im still searching

I'm curious when Skeeter took over the #22 guns
