William Newell "Bill" Hightower, III, 77, of Tallahassee, passed away May 15, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Anne F. Hightower and his beloved son John Hightower (wife Sandi) of Tallahassee.

Bill was born in Shreveport, LA and moved to Tallahassee from Marianna in 1960. He graduated from Leon High School in 1965 and Florida State University, College of Business in 1970. He was a man of Faith and Integrity who loved his family and friends and never met a stranger. He enjoyed the simple things in life - reading, camellia gardening, bird watching, hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, collecting Rugers and spending time with loved ones. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee and a life member of the FSU Alumni Association.

Bill had some fine Rugers and displayed them at our shows for all of us to enjoy. Bill our brother will be sorely missed by us all.

Another of the good ones is gone. I enjoyed Bill and Mike Womble and had several great conversations with them.
Bill liked the horseradish mustard that I would bring to the shows and he had a sense of humor too.
In one of my comedy routines he got a laugh out of the special holster I made for him. It was for a 10&1/2" barrel Super Blackhawk and had a caster wheel so the muzzle didn't drag on the ground.
Bill will be missed by all.

I did not know Bill, but anytime the collecting community loses a key member it is a loss of everyone. He will certainly be missed.
