Any info on this Ruger #1???

Post by DVG#3 »

I purchased this gun a while ago and I don't have any info for it, nor have I ever seen any info for it, hoping someone here knows something about the gun. Thanks!

Just tell us what the words are on the logo may help....they are not clear when you enlarge the pic.

It is not like anything I have seen before. A lot of this type of Rugers were done by Baron. A call to them with the serial# might turn up info.

Hopefully these are better pics. The side says: One of "The 50 Best Guns Ever Made" Serial #: 134-28412
Thanks again!

Just speculation on my part, but I think I remember Field and Stream magazine having an article on the 50 Best Guns Ever Made. Maybe it was made to celebrate the article, as I am pretty sure the No. 1 was listed.

Quick internet search found this:

This may be an after-factory customization, but a letter from the Ruger factory and/or Baron will help to tell the story.

Field and Stream did the write up but I think Hunting Heritage Trust may have made them happen.
