Not of collectors interest yet but thought I would share my department's newest acquisition. I'm the Assistant Chief for a small department in Oklahoma. When it came time to trade off our old Rock Island Patrol Rifles, I of course had to see what Ruger might offer for law enforcement. I really like my Ar556 MPR and was glad to see Ruger does offer a law enforcement only AR556 SBR (10.5" barrel). We ordered 15 of them that came in last week and are the first department in Oklahoma to field them. I put about 100 rounds through mine sighting it in and testing ammo. Runs smooth as glass and groups well. Impressed so far and think they will serve the department well for years to come.

Rugerokie, That gizmo on the top that projects light out both ends is really cool and interesting.

I was reluctant for years for any type of electronic sight. At my age now, I'm not sure how I would operate without them.

Yes, I haven't used one yet but am likely heading there. I've got years on you I'm sure and even with recent cataract surgery my eyes are still old. I am glasses free though and have the new DL to verify it. I was attempting humor based on the position in the photo and it looks like it is projecting light out. Thank you for doing what you do. I am VERY appreciative of those willing to do your job. My retirement hobby is speaking to and thanking as many military and veterans and first responders as I can, any time I see them. I've spoken to some of our local officers at least 30-40 times, whenever they are stopped without a "customer" I stop and say hi and thanks. I hope when I get my first optic I get one those cool ones with the light beams.

It does look a little light saberish now that you mention it

One cool benefit from buying these SBR's, one of my officers and I got to attend an 8 hour virtual AR556 armorers course from Ruger. The first hour was a history lesson on Ruger from a 30+ year employee. In his office with him he had a cutaway of Bill Ruger's protype machine gun from the WW2 era. When he found out I was a No.1 fanatic he pulled Steve Vogel's engraved 1-S 7x57 out of his office vault and showed it to me. Very cool experience. Offered me a tour of the facility if I'm ever in the northeast - sounds like a vacation plan.

That's very cool. I got to attend the Glock armorer's school about 23 years ago. It was very interesting. I'd love to attend more. If only my bank account would love to send me.
