375 Ruger

Not a great photograph but it was a great hunt. Shooting the 375 Ruger African with full power loads is fun up to a point but I prefer to hand load the thing with cast bullets and use 5744 powder with a velocity of 1600 f/s. This cow Elk was taken with that combination at 180 yards using a Leupold 1.5X5 scope. No penetration at that range but vitals were severely damaged . Recoil similar to a 270 wcf

I hunted private ranch outside of Springer New Mexico north of the Canadian River. Plenty of good eating from that cow Elk and a memorable trip with a great Ruger rifle.

The 375 Ruger has always been a round that is on my wish list. I had a 375 Weatherby and a 375 H&H for alot of years a long time ago that were sent down the river. Always figured I'd replace them with a 375 Ruger but the right situation hasn't presented itself yet.

Had most of her ground into burger. Great for burgers , Chile, meat sauce, tacos, and on and on.
