Past ROCS Journals Online

I have been a ROCS member for 6 years or so. I like going back looking at past issues. There are awesome Rugers. Is there any chance that past issues could be scanned in and posted on the website. They could be accessible only to paying ROCS members. It may be too expensive and time consuming. Just a thought.

Thanks, Todd

Good idea. A while back RCA was putting their Journals on their site. You could turn the pages and read. Very nice.

We have back issues for sale. I believe the price is still $25 per copy. We need a volunteer with computer experience and the time to put them out for our members. Contact myself or Bill Hamm for further input. Brass Frame/Lee E

Since no volunteers have stepped up to download our Digests and Reports onto our webpage, I guess this input will be considered just an "idea"? Are the magazines, journals or Digests offered by Colt, Winchester, Smith and Wesson and others, offered in a digital format on their webpages? We have all back issues saved to thumb drives and discs for future reprinting! Brass Frame/Lee E

If you already have them electronically, it shouldn't be too hard to make them available. The issue is when you want to add one of those fancy e-catalog style readers for them. Seems to me the question comes down to how fancy do you want to get to make them available?

If they are all saved electronically, would there be any harm with making that available to ROCS members? Make it where you have to log in so only members can see them. That should be an easy solution.

I have heard from a couple "younger" members who wish to view an all digital version of some Digests and Reports. My concern is the style or type of viewing that will satisfy all readers? It will require a login for members only and will probably start with only one issue to work out the "bugs". Be patient as the holidays are upon us and I must discuss the option with our web master. Be patient as we must complete the Winter Report and must begin organizing the Spring Digest. I am also organizing the OGCA/ROCS display show at a new location in Ohio.
Does anyone want to volunteer to help!? Brass Frame/LEE

Lee,
I don't believe that the fact nobody has volunteered is a lack of wanting to help, or a symptom of "let someone else do it".
I just think none of us know HOW to digitize something.
I don't know, but I would guess the publisher has the files in digital form.......
I think you are on the right track getting with the web master.
Keep us informed.
Thank you for all you do
Jay
