Came across a very good to excellant condition Ruger 77-22. Funny thing about it is it is missing the 77-22 roll mark anywhere on the rifle.Would this be considered rare, or, and collectable ? Anyone have any idea as to the rarity and if it would command a premium price because of the missing roll mark ? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

I have one NIB and I have a value for it listed on my spreadsheet with a range of $1200-1400. I don't have my references nearby so I have to shoot from the hip on them, but your serail number should be somewhere in the 700-00500 to 700-01200 range. They produced the first 500 or so later after they had the stamp in hand.

Does your rifle fall into this serial # range. 700-01038 thru 700-01272 ?
Does your rifle have iron sights & a grip cap?

Hey Terry,

I had to dig mine out to confirm as well. Any significance to the sights and grip cap?

RENE REFERENCE,
77/22RS without grip cap or 77/22 RM on left side of receiver.
Known S/N #700-01031. Possibly two known to exist. One is in a private collection
and the other is pictured in early "RUGER .22 RIMFIRE BOLT-ACTION RIFLE" literature.
Extremely Rare.

77/22RS, with Grip Cap and without 77/22 rollmark on left side of receiver.
Known S N - 700-01038 thru 700-01272. Slightly less than 400 produced.
At least 85 of these were exported to Australia.

Hope that helps some.
Terry
