It sure makes you wonder about the circumstances of that #200005 that showed up a few months ago. It was reportedly the earliest gun shipped in December 1955. I imagine one of the writers got it originally.
If only that gun could talk!!
#200014 also reportedly went to a gun writer but have no idea who. It was factory shipped in a .357 Blackhawk box without catalog numbers, I assume before the green wreath Lightweight boxes were printed.

These early LWT Single Sixes were shipped in some of the most highly sought packaging of all Rugers! They rank as desirable for me as the White Box Super Blackhawk with all if it's boxes and shipping carton. Great photos Don and thanks for sharing.

My first Ruger was a Lightweight, the All Blue with a Steel Cylinder. This was the summer of 1959 and I saved my $$ all Summer. My dad was not in favor of it, because he did not feel that anyone could hit anything with a handgun, not that it was dangerous for a 16 year old to have. When I told him that I was just going to get a motorcycle if I couldn't spend my $$ on the Ruger, he said "Let's go get the pistol".
I still have it and the box. Needless to say the Ruger was carried and shot a lot and the box is worse for wear from carrying it around to all those Gun "Shows" in the "70's.
The 2 DF has pictured are as good as they come.
