Kittery find

Post by Charlie1022 »

I was searching the other day for Kittery 50th Anniversary carbines for sale and found a used one at the Kittery Trading Post. As I was reading over the description and read the serial number , I had to take a second look, It was a consecutive serial number to the one already in my collection. What are the odds that I could find the rarest laminated production 10/22 out there? These were sold back in 1988 and there were only 104 of these made. Since this one is a used gun I did not get the box or the certificate with it. I just had to have this one to add to my collection and now I'm just waiting until it is shipped this way. Soon 23076153 and 23076154 will be back together again. This is what makes collecting so interesting to me. What have you found for your collection lately?

Rod that would be a be really rare for someone to have 3 consecutive serial numbers on the Kittery. Let me know what yours serial number is. I have been looking for some original advertisement for the Kittery but have not been able to find any. Have you ever seen any or know where I night find any? I talked to the Kittery Trading Post the other day when I bought the rifle and they were going to check with there advertising dept. to see if they might happen to have any in archive.

Thanks for the information Mark on your serial number, I think it would be interesting if we could find out where all 104 of them are located around the country/world? I have two in Ohio and Radical Rod has just acquired one also in Ohio. It will be interesting to find our his serial number on his new find. I know a new member in IL who has two. so that gets us down to location of just 97 more to find.

I picked up my second one last night and was happy to add it to my collection. It is always exciting to add a consecutive serial numbered gun to your collection that were made and sold years prior. This is part of what makes collecting so exciting it the challenges and the rewards when we find something new!

Charlie, I've only been collecting a fraction of the time most of you guys have. It's great to see your passion for adding to the giant pile you already have and though you have multiple exclusive vintage guns your still at the gun store with Rod looking at the serial numbers of the new ones, good stuff!

The thrill of the chase sometime has it rewards as indicated by this find. Some time you find them and other times they find you. Once your name gets out there as a collector you just never know what you will find or what finds you.

Lets hear your stories
