Lowback Stainless Security-Six

Post by 67stingray »

I recently picked up a lowback GA-34 with a 1975 serial number 151-27067, it's in great shape however it has had a shine job put on it - looks good. I don't know of any either stainless or blued guns with a lowback frame that high of a serial number. Has anyone seen one? I added a pic of it by an early RDA-34 just cause I think they look good together.

Bennett, I haven't seen one with that high of a s/n, mine is 151-09505. I was talking to John Dougan yesterday and he seemd to remember, way back when, that a guy did a RCA display with several highly polished stainless Security Sixes but he couldn't remember all the details. Guess I'll need to search my early RCA Journals to see what I can come up with. Even though I don't really like high polish on a stainless gun, that is good looking and is a good addition to your collection.

Thanks Ron, I've dug pretty deep into my RCA Journals and haven't found anything. The best part of collecting Rugers in my opinion is everyday is a chance to find something you haven't seen.

Bennett,
Great score!!

Ron,
Would that have been Sonny Johnson ? I would search his articles in the RCA reference guide that Bill provided us.

Thanks Terry, I looked through the RCA Journal Index and Sonny Johnson had three articles covering collecting, sight ribs and roll marks. We search for items we haven't seen before knowing tracking information on them is a challenge.
