Black hawk with ivory

Post by david knutson »

I noticed the Blackhawk new model. What's ivory grips i'm gunbroker in the description. The guy withdraws the grips.Specifying that the fishing game etc. had intervened.
does anybody know what the cut off date is for elephant ivory?? i'm guessing it was around seventy five seventy six but I suppose you have to have proof of that? thanks david

it is 1976 I was kind of judging by the RCA ivory used on the chamber seal pistols .
if someone was to put it on a later gun I'm guessing you would have some type if proof that it was acquired earlier.

I actually thought the ban was in the 1980's sometime, as that's when the fake XR3 Ruger ivory started showing up.

The ban on importing fresh ivory dates to 1989 ( Regan ) and the shipping restriction was put in effect 6 July 2016 . Osama Bin Barry was in office. If the gun you are shipping is worth more than the Ivory they can be shipped . You can not intestate ship ivory grips by themselves or grips worth more than the gun they are mounted on . You can ship in state any grips made of ivory imported pre 1989 with the exception of a few communist states that have total bans on any ivory products. I have a guy in Florida that I get ivory grips from, both new made Mastodon and older African Elephant . I send him a gun , he fits the grips and sends them back . I send him a $2000 gun , the grips cost $750 or less so are not valued at what the gov considers to be the larger portion of the value . Probably something else going on with the seller , maybe a local offer for the ivory grips that was enough for him to pull them.
