Sixes book?

Post by LDB »

Is there a good book on the Sixes to learn more about them and enough to buy one reliably? I've got the itch for a nice short barrel but don't know enough about them to know which model to choose or what to look for and look out for. So, hopefully, a good book on them? Bonus points for who to get it from. :)

I would recommend John Dougan's latest book, Ruger Pistols & Revolvers.

Thanks for the lead. Any leads on a good source? Very pricey on Amazon but that may be the only option.

Not mine. Here's one on eBay for a good price. Certainly worth every penny.

Since you posted this in the double action section, I would guess you want to buy a SECURITY or SERVICE Six, am I correct?
If so, although John's book Pistols & Revlovers is second to none, it does NOT have any info on the DA guns. Just old model SA revolvers.

Yes, it's the double actions I am interested in. Thanks for clarifying this.

I'm not aware of any books on the DA revolvers,, either the "Six" series or the GP's SP's or others.

The best way to learn about them is to ask those who own one or more,, AND even better,, find a few to try out.

Figure out your purposes,, and look at the features that fit your needs. Go from there.
