Ruger M77r .358 win, 1975
Ruger M77r .358 win, 1975
Hello all, this is my first posting for this rifle, (minty) that I am going to receive in the next week. It is a Ruger M77r, in 358 Winchester, made in 1975. My question is, were these cataloged in 1975? I can't seem to find out if they were in that fold-out catalog from 1975-1976 era...from what I can gather, they weren't...anyone have info on numbers made or cataloging for 1975 M77r in .358? Any other info is appreciated, thanks

Here's a pic from the 1975 catalog, they offered a .338 Mag. and a .458 Mag. Are you sure it's not one of them?

Not one of the listed calibers on that sheet, but Ruger confirmed it's a 1975 and 358 win was an available caliber during that term

They were experimenting with that round from the beginning, according to RENE serial number 30 was chambered in 358 Win. and was in Stan Terhune's collection. Yet it's first appearance in the catalog was 1978 (pic below). Show us some pictures when you get it.

You were a step ahead of me on that one. Heres my RS 358 made in 1978.

I don't think #30 lettered as a 358 though. Barrel could have been installed later67stingray wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 5:12 pm They were experimenting with that round from the beginning, according to RENE serial number 30 was chambered in 358 Win. and was in Stan Terhune's collection.
