Ivory Grips
Re: Ivory Grips
where exactly is it written down just how many the factory "may" have made, when we've been told by some ,at th e plant, over the years, that how often "the old man told them to get something made or done, and he did NOT write it down... " yes that is a quote

Re: Ivory Grips
Answering Ruger Guy's question, one way would be to look back on Southport's purchasing records for the vendor(s) that supplied the ivory grips and see how many were order, followed by how many were received. Possible the records may still exist, or have been destroyed, but a way to deterring if they remain.

On of the addendums for Dougan's book has the production numbers and dates based off invoices.

Re: Ivory Grips
Great discussion. On another note I've always thought it was odd that the earliest ivories from 1953, 54 and possibly 55 should have had the early satin medallions as that was the Ruger Medallion at the time. To any collectors that have factory ivories any of them have the satin medallion? I've seen several pair with this medallion albeit the medallion is in the location close to or the same as the XR3 Hard Rubber grips. Juss Curious. Example picture:

These ivory grips were on an engraved Blackhawk 44 Magnum I acquired some years ago. They have the early satin medallions and are set back on the grip panel.
