The next shadow box project

Post by twriggen »

I guess this isn't the next one as there are a few in the queue ahead of this one that Taryn is saving up for winter projects. I'm struggling a little with it as there are a few things I don't like about it. The first is that the Ruger Titanium is on the backside of the hammer so you cannot see it in this layout, but it just doesn't work laying the other way. I also don't like the dead space in the lower right. Laying the hammer flat just didn't look right. My thoughts are I should track down a loose hammer head and put it in that lower corner. Both issues address as that could lay in the opposite format so the Ruger Titanium would be facing up. Anyone have a loose Stiletto head or another thought on the layout?

A loose head for that lower right corner would look good. The way it is right now a right handed person would think nothing is odd. If you reversed it, a left handed person would not think it is odd. (I'm right handed).

Similiar to displaying handguns and even rifles/shotguns, most people think a firearm pointing to the left is odd but sometimes you want it to point that way to highlight something that is on the right hand side (like a serial number, caliber designation, etc. :?: )

I'm right-handed. Laying down a handgun the barrel will point to the left or straight up. A hammer the head will be to the left, or straight up. That's the natural way for me to hold it. Anything else would be strange and awkward to do. I do like the idea of another head turned to show the other side in the corner. Ok, my unsolicited input of the moment. :)

Or.... get another hammer and stack them... although the box might not be tall enough.

I like the idea of putting a hammer head in the lower corner. That's a nice display.
