Ruger Discontinuations
Ruger Discontinuations
Received a text from a family member that Ruger is suspending production of a lot of production models ie... Blackhawks, Vaquero's, #1's, and a few others sighting lack of government contracts for the overall business and the slow economy. Has anyone else heard of this? I did a google search and found nothing but earlier in the year of the SFAR, and a few others (very few) being discontinued. I told my family member not to panic until we get more info. Those product lines he sighted were a lot of their portfolio that has been their bread and butter since Rugers beginning.

I've not heard anything like that. Ask where the information came from, then decide if it might have been some kind of a scam to get people to buy guns from a specific place.

It is all over several of the forums I frequent. But no more Blackhawks? Seems unlikely. But who knows between Beretta and bean counters fighting to ruin Ruger.

It is all over Facebook too. If you Google it, it appears to be true. Sad news indeed. But, IMHO, Ruger has been going downhill ever since they decided to take the S out of Sturm, Ruger and company!

Yeah, I went on Rugerforum and saw all the comments. I'm going to wait a while (a good while) before I pronounce Ruger dead. Lots of scare/fear mongers out there that want to jump to conclusions and get people all worked up. For what end??

Re: Ruger Discontinuations
Hello Guys,
The two announcements were forwarded this to me last week, maybe this will clarify things. We will have to wait and see where this newly formed alliance goes.
Ruger announced a major change to several of its longtime product lines this week, stating that it would immediately suspend production of several models while finishing out current production runs of other models through 2026.
"Ruger announced changes to several current-generation product families yesterday as part of our ongoing Ruger 2030 strategy," said Abbey Clary, Ruger's director of media, advertising and public relations. "This does not necessarily mean these product families are permanently discontinued."
Effective immediately, Ruger is ceasing production of its LCR, SP101, GP100 and Bearcat revolvers. The company plans to complete its final production runs of the following models for 2026: SR1911, LC Carbine, PC Charger, PC Carbine, LC Charger, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Single-Series revolvers, Vaquero, No. 1, 77-Series rifles, Hawkeye and Ruger Precision Rifle.
"We recognize how important these platforms are to Ruger’s heritage and to our customers," Clary said. "In many cases, we see opportunities to bring them forward through new designs, improved features and modern manufacturing methods. We expect some of these names and product families to return in new forms in the future, but do not have specific product plans or reintroduction timelines at this time."
With this shift, Ruger's handgun product lines continuing into 2027 will consist of the company's LCP offerings, RXM, MAX-9, Security-380, Security-9, Ruger 5.7, Mark IV and 22 Charger. In its revolver line, Ruger will continue making its affordable Wrangler and Super Wrangler models. For rifles, remaining Ruger offerings will consist of the company's American Rifle and American Rimfire line, as well as the Ruger Precision Rimfire, Harrier, 10/22 and Mini-14 models.
"These decisions reflect our review of consumer demand, evolving market preferences, manufacturing complexity and the long-term profitability of each product family," Clary said. "The goal is to focus our resources on the products consumers want most today while creating capacity for future product development and manufacturing modernization.
Ruger and Beretta Holding S.A. Announce Strategic Cooperation Agreement
May 04, 2026
Agreement Reflects Mutual Commitment to Long-Term Value Creation & Stability
Ruger to Increase Beretta Holding Ownership Cap to 25% of the Company
Ruger to Grant Beretta Holding the Ability to Nominate Up to Two Independent Board Members
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) ("Ruger" or the "Company") today announced that it has entered a Strategic Cooperation Agreement ("Agreement") with Beretta Holding S.A. ("Beretta Holding"), the Company's largest shareholder. The Agreement reflects a shared commitment to long-term value creation, constructive engagement, and stability for Ruger's shareholders, employees, customers and industry partners.
Under the terms of the Agreement, Ruger is expected to allow Beretta Holding to increase its investment to up to 25% of the Company's outstanding shares. The minimum partial tender offer price shall be $44.80 per share in cash – which represents a ~20% premium to the Company's 60-day volume-weighted average share price prior to Beretta Holding's tender offer announcement. Such tender offer has not yet commenced and will be subject to applicable regulatory approvals.
In connection with this increased investment, Beretta Holding will have the right to nominate up to two independent directors following the 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and regulatory approval. At that time, the Company will temporarily expand the Board. The nominees will be subject to Ruger's Nominating and Governance Committee process and qualification criteria.
As part of the agreement, Beretta Holding has committed to a three-year standstill, during which it will not, among other things, initiate or support any proxy contest or similar action. Over that period, Beretta Holding will also vote its shares in alignment with the Ruger Board's recommendations on all matters (except in cases where leading independent proxy advisory firms, ISS or Glass Lewis, issue an adverse recommendation or in certain extraordinary transactions not involving Beretta Holding).
Additionally, Beretta Holding has withdrawn its director nominations for the 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and only Ruger Board-recommended candidates will be up for election at the meeting.
These provisions, together with other provisions in the Agreement, are designed to safeguard Ruger's independence and stability while increasing alignment of Beretta Holding with all shareholder interests.
"This agreement is strategically valuable and will benefit all Ruger stakeholders," said John Cosentino, Chairman of the Board of Ruger. "As a Board, our responsibility and duty is to act in the best interests of all shareholders. This agreement provides stability, avoids further expense and distraction, and creates a framework for productive engagement with Beretta Holding while preserving Ruger's independence and governance standards."
The Agreement is positive for Ruger and its shareholders and enables Ruger and Beretta Holding to explore avenues for commercial cooperation in a manner that complies with all applicable laws. Importantly, Ruger will remain an independent U.S. public company – preserving its brand, heritage and strategic direction – while benefiting from Beretta Holding's admirable legacy and global industry leadership.
"We are pleased to have reached this Agreement with Ruger. This cooperation is fully aligned with the Group’s strategy to further strengthen our presence in the United States, a key market where we have been active for several decades, and it reflects our commitment to continued longterm development." said Dott. Pietro Gussalli Beretta, Chairman and CEO of Beretta Holding. "We are eager to work with the Company toward our shared goal of strengthening execution and positioning Ruger for value creation."
Further information regarding the Agreement, and a copy of the Agreement, will be made available in a Current Report on Form 8-K to be filed by the Company with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
regards, John

Re: Ruger Discontinuations
Thanks for that John. I knew that Beretta was a family owned business and not publicly traded, but when I used my google machine to see some of the history I was shocked to find out the family has kept this close for 15 generations! Their acquisitions have made them a global behemoth in global firearms and ammunition. Here are their current holdings I found in my google search: Beretta Holding manages a massive roster of iconic global brands:
• Firearms: Beyond the core Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta brand, its firearm subsidiaries include Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, Finnish manufacturer Sako (along with its Tikka line), French custom maker Chapuis Armes, historical replica builder A. Uberti, and legendary British premium gunmaker Holland & Holland.
• Optics: Premium outdoor optics brands Steiner-Optik and Burris Optics.
• Ammunition: Following major acquisitions, they control Norma Precision, RWS, Geco, and MFS Defense.
I could be wrong as usual, but sometimes companies need a healthy reset, we would all prefer it came from the USA, but it won't be our choice! Their offer to Ruger shareholders was a premium of over 20% to the stock price at the time. It will be interesting to see how they navigate the public stock structure, or if they get tired of it and de-list somehow. Bill

I've seen that reference to the Ruger 2030 Strategy... anyone know any details or specifics on that?
