After a long and tenuous day today, Taryn and I have decided on the layout and design for our Tulsa display for the upcoming 2026 ROCS Display Show at the Wanenmacher Gun Show in November.
What we are struggling with still is the title of the display. My initial thought was "Extraordinary Rugers that Look Ordinary". Our concern with the title is it doesn't really relay the intent of the display. The theme of the display is to display a lineup of Rugers that you might find on a table at a gun show or listed on a for sale board. While they appear ordinary something about them makes them extraordinary. The display will highlight and explain why these are extraordinary. The purpose of the display is to be an educational exhibit on what to watch for as you look at old used Rugers to see if they are run of the mill guns or something extraordinary.
I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on the title or ideas that might work better given the display goal.
Thanks.

Love the concept, Troy! Here’s where my brain went with it.
“Ordinary or Extraordinary?” or
“What makes an ordinary Ruger extraordinary?” or
“Hunting for the extraordinary”
Asking a question in the banner could make people want to engage.
But then I’ve never been to Tulsa… yet!

That is going to be a top contender.

Troy, I actually like your first Title. If I saw it while walking around I would stop and ask, "So what makes these Extraordinary?, They look like regular ole Rugers to me." And that's when you get to engage the people and point/explain.
Oh, BTW, I will be asking you that when I see them, I'm not that old to learn something new, especially about Rugers.

RoninPA, not sure mate, reckon the first one's a bit wordy for a banner people skim past...RoninPA wrote:Troy, I actually like your first Title.

The Banner (The title of the display) actually plays a big part in getting people to stop and look. Over the years I have found that people at gun shows normally DO NOT just skim past the displays (not like they do with sales tables) but actually look at the Display Title and then slow way down or stop to see what guns are being displayed. I have had many people see one of my displays and read the title and then stop and talk to me about the guns I am showing (typically the first double action revolvers). If the display title catches their eye, most times they stop (or greatly slow down) to actually look at the display closely. A display with a unique title will be read and either stop people or have them turn around and come back.graham_pick71 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 7:02 amRoninPA, not sure mate, reckon the first one's a bit wordy for a banner people skim past...RoninPA wrote:Troy, I actually like your first Title.
That is what we Ruger displayers want, for people to stop and ask questions so we can explain what Rugers are all about, the history and any other questions - I have such and such Ruger, how rare is it, what's it worth, how does it compare to a XXX handgun/rifle/shotgun, etc.

And the winner is....................
Ordinary, or Extraordinary?
Short, to the point, and a question.

Troy,
Good meld of the original title. That should get people to stop and look.
