1949 Corp Seal

Post by d findley »

Sturm, Ruger & Co. original corporate seal. An employee retrieved it from the trash several years ago. The bronze disc is worn but still makes a clear mark.

Don, how unique is this! Why would anyone throw this away, probably did not realize the importance. Don, I have read your book twice and now I am still excited about what you are showing us. Great stuff from your collection. Thanks for sharing.

Do you have the stamp? If so can I bring your latest book to DACA show to stamp it? Is a new book in your plans?!

RocDoc, I will take the stamp to Dallas in April. You can get a good look at it. It was the property of the legal dept. I would imagine it was to them like discarding a well used stapler. I would think the decision to destroy barreled receivers & Hawkeyes & Maxis would have come from higher up.

Don, you are right about it just being a worn out tool. As Jack Behn once told me when I asked him about them disposing of something, he chuckled and said "To us its just a widget, it ain't Romantic to us like it is to you collectors". :)

Just wish they'd have saved those single-digit autos that I'd heard they scrapped.
Those could have been put on Ruger auctions and done well for a great charity....and made a few happy collectors as well.
