Short Supers

Post by Pfmueller »

New here, and don't know much about short Supers, except that I picked a lettered one up several years ago. Haven't seen one in real life since.

Engraving must be non-Ruger, or it would have been mentioned in the letter. Can anyone confirm?

The 6-1/2" barrel Supers are very scarce and interesting guns. A Ruger employee thought that he was cutting .41 Magnum 6-1/2" barrels and before it was realized that they were .44s about 600 had been cut. These are certainly desirable and sought after by collectors today. The ones that I have letter as a model "S47 with a 6-1/2" barrel".

I agree that the engraving appears to be aftermarket but a nice looking Short Barrel Super. Thanks for posting it for us to see and enjoy.

A very nice looking Super and as FT44 said "Very Scarce". The engraving is nicely done but I dough it is, or was, commissioned by the factory.

Thanks for sharing,

It is interesting to see engraving on one of the scarce S46 models. I remember an engraved and plated SC4 from a few years ago as well.
