Who else has been collecting 10/22's beside me? I bought my first one back in 1970 and have enjoyed then ever since. I have several different ones that I like to shot and I have my collection that are new in the box. What really got me started was when I went to the NRA annual convention in St Louis back in the late 80's and went to a seminar on collecting and one guy talked about his collection of 10/22's and that got me more interested in them and I wanted to learn more. Chief AJ was also at the show and he had just set a new world record using 10/22's and that really got my interest on what he could do to trick them out and improve how they shot. We have become good friends over the years I have built several up over the years for different types of shooting besides a couple that Chief AJ built up special. that I have in my collection.
Over the years I have acquired a very nice collection of different models started collecting the laminated stocks and displaying my collection around the Midwest. I changed my display after a few years as my laminated collection grew and grew. Ruger still keeps coming out new colored exclusive laminated models and for different distributors. So let me hear about your collections.

Re: 10/22 Collecting
16 lookers so far and not one reply. I would have thought that there are at least a few 10/22 collectors besides me. I'm sure I did not have the market and all the specials corralled.

I sure like them but tend to lean towards shorter barrels in collecting Rugers!
)
I have a minty International, a couple of nice older walnut stocked guns and a Finger groove Shorter that I love to knock squirrels out of trees with. Best stock design that they made IMHO.

Re: 10/22 Collecting
There use to be a few I knew of back in the day. Use to see the displays a lot back in the 80's at the Bill Goodman shows, Detroit, Louisville, the PGCA in Monroeville, Pa. But alas, the one gentleman passed away, I believe, he actually wrote a book, I think, the other is a cute little girl up in New York state. I think she had just about every variation you could imagine. I think there are a few "closet collectors" out there, personally I have a dozen or so of them little buggers, I'm shooting mine. Coogs.

Hi Charlie,
Yes there are more 10/22 collectors out there and I'm one. I haven't been collecting as long as you have but I am passionate and have a few. I'm glad to hear you show yours the're aren't many that do. I'm not sure why, because everyone has a standard cabine, and are always curious about a 10/22 that is unique or special. I'm sure your displays are a hit!

Re: 10/22 Collecting
Thanks Mark. I have had a lot of fun colleting over the years and all my hard work even got me a factory tour years ago which they do not normally give factory tours. I actually have 2 collections of 10/22's of the early ones with some special issues and some Chief AJ special issues that he made up, and then I have my laminated collection. I even have two of the early sales samples of the clear magazines and a red and a white mag also from back in 1976. I even have a blank of laminated material before it is machined into a 10/22 Target stock as well as salesman samples of the laminated material that has one end bonded together and the other end in a fan shape that shows how each layer is stained before it is bonded that I use when I dis[play my laminated collection. I did get to meet Bill Workman years ago and got to see his collection at ta show in Detroit, MI. That is what got me interested in the laminated models and thought that since I already liked them and I could basically build my laminated collection as they came out. It is a lot of extra work to display long guns compared to hand guns but it is what I like and could afford. I still pick up and check out 10/22's at shows looking for something new for my collection. I did limit my laminated collection to models made prior to 2000 except for a * K10/22 BBZ that I found and traded for. This is the only laminated * gun that I am aware of at this time even though I would think there should be a few more out there some where.
I would like to here from other 1022 collectors and what specials they have in there collections. I plan on displaying in Tulsa in November and look forward to meeting other collectors at that show.
Happy Collecting,

Re: 10/22 Collecting
I guess I fancy myself as a collector of the best .22 rifle EVER built. I don't really specialize in any one style. My current plan is to try to find one of every year made. We all know that I will have my hands full trying to find a 1964 model though.
I have no idea what value to put on a 64 though. Any input from all the experts would be appreciated. I am told that an older gentleman in my hometown has serial number 10, but I have yet to see it to verify its existence.

Sure sounds like you are on the right track and having fun on your mission. Man if you can score s/n 10 that would be great. Another member here has #10 Deerstalker. 44 Magnum semi auto.
Good luck and happy to have you aboard.

Stumper it is good to hear from another 10/22 collector. Keep us posted on #10 you have the lead on. Like anything condition has a lot to do with the value. Just think if they still have the box and all the paper work with it! If you do get it we would really like to see pictures of it.
The more you get the word out on what you collect the more the chance that these rare guns find you. I remember years ago that 2 D target guns found me and there are only 4 blue and 3 stainless known back in that time frame.
Shoot me a message if you ever want to talk 10/22's.
